I used to be able to buy these great black covered spiral sketchbooks… 3 x 4 inches. 110 sheets, acid free paper. Fantastic to sketch in, fit in your pocket, easy to rip pages out of. Used to find them all over NYC… label sometimes branded ‘Mona Lisa’ Museum or The Black Book… or “masters international usa & canada” (that’s all from the one label I kept.) Cost: $2.95! Now I can’t find them ANYWHERE. Not online, not at any art store. Not a single one in the whole world left, apparently! I’ve written to art stores… I’ve searched and googled and facebooked. No luck.
Any idea why this happened? Am I the only person in the whole world who doesn’t like lugging a 4 X 6 (or larger) notebook around?
I don’t know why that particularly happened, but I know the feeling, some good notebooks and other supplies can just disappear. I did do some searching of my own to see if I could find what you were talking about with no luck. I think though you could find several books that fit your size requirements. I usually carry a 3.5 X 5.5 notebook around or smaller (though I don’t usually get them with sketchbook paper). But if you need something that is exactly 3 x 4 I don’t really have anything for you, it’s not my preferred size or a very common one.
